Brewer's Description:
"In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses."

Pours with a great head like a belgian, but it fades fast. The taste is a little too yeasty for me, and with some bitterness. It's a nice attempt, but honestly, golden belgians are not really my style.

Aroma is somewhere between a typical Belgian and a hefeweizen. It pours a big white foamy head that dissipates quickly. Taste has some out of place bitterness, like grapefruit. The Belgian yeast presence is there but there's little flavor from the malt and that grapefruit/citrus bitterness belongs in some other beer.

If you wanna play with the big boys who make the world's best beer (ie:Belgians),then be prepared for some critique.I was initially excited to see one of my favorite breweries attempting a Belgian. The good points are the nice bottle and high ABV.For a 1st attempt, this is decent. What this lacks is the creamy head and the taste is slightly off, IMO.So far,Unibroue is the best N.American Belgian style I've tried.Keep trying though B.B.-I'll be looking for a Local 2.
