Beer Bottle
Brewer's Description:
"Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture. Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish."

Piney, malt flavour, with a nice floral hint. Slightly sour first hit, but a sweeter piney flavour takes over. Not bitter.

A uniquely Scottish tasting ale,but lighter. It's like drinking a bouquet of flowers.

This is pretty damn good. This is a very dry ale, yet a nice mixture of floral, clove, and a bit of an apple taste to it. I agree with J that there is a slight sourness, but it disappates quickly. This is also one of the best smelling beers I have ever had. Quite different, and very easy to drink...almost too easy. I will definitely look for this one again.

The brewer's description is pretty good. A light malty flavor and a good dose of flowery/piney taste. I'd give this a higher rating if I wasn't feeling like shit when I drank it.

Got this at New Seasons Market.. Wow.. This is really different than anything I have ever tried. almost tastes like a lager. It has some clove, heather, and apple cider flavors. A little sweet and a very slightly sour. Very drinkable and pretty damn good..
