An extremely rich and complex beer, the addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

I rather enjoyed this beer. It has a nice chocolate and raspberry combination that is quite tasty. The alcohol is a little too hot throughout, and while I like a little warming, at 9.3 this shouldn't taste like a liqueur shot. The biggest problem with this beer is the price. Safeway charged $15 for it. Are you fucking kidding me? I was in such disbelief I had the cashier do a pricecheck on it. I can get much, much better beers such as a St Bernardus 12 or Achel Extra Brune for $5 less than that. For that reason alone, this beer loses a full star rating. If they fix the price and find a way to tone down the booze, this is easily a 4 star beer.
