Beer Bottle
Brewer's Description:
A group of hop-heads and publicans challenged our Beer Camp brewers to push the extremes of whole-cone hop brewing. The result is this: a 100 IBU, whole-cone hurricane of flavor. Simply put- Hoptimum: the biggest whole-cone IPA we have ever produced. Aggressively hopped, dry-hopped and torpedoed with our exclusive new hop varieties for ultra-intense flavors and aromas. Hops, hops and more hops are the stars of this big, whole-cone Imperial IPA. Resinous ‘new-school’ and exclusive hop varieties carry the bold and aromatic nose. The flavor follows the aroma with layers of aggressive hoppiness, featuring notes of grapefruit rind, rose, lilac, cedar and tropical fruit – all culminating in a dry and lasting finish.

Leave it to Sierra Nevada. When it comes to putting hops in the brew, nobody does it better. All you other brewers that want to put hops on the label and hops in the description, take note. This is how it's done. My god this is good beer.

Pine cone, grapefruit rind, some bitterness, and sweet malts is what I got for the taste of this beer. I love the picture on the label of a real "hophead." lol

After my first sip, I thought I was drinking a barleywine. This has a shitpot of syrupy sweet malts. After letting it mellow a little, it started to taste more like an IPA, albeit a complex one. The hop flavor is intense and consists of pine and citrus flavors. Lots of bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden, but I know its in there because it killed my headache quickly!
