Sweet, even syrup-like aroma. Flavor was very malty and sweet. Perhaps it's just the style that I'm not really big on, but I'm not really sure if I would order it again.

The first sip was great. A dark, malty taste with esters a sweet alcohol taste. Then for some reason the potency disappeared. The flavor was all there, just the taste buds seemed to adapt very quickly and made the beer less intense. Don't know if it's the beer or me. I've been pretty pleased with every other Allagash brew I've tried so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

This is a very good American version of a dubbel.

Allagash does a good job emulating the style, but there are minor problems with the taste. It has a nice nutty sweet malt flavor, but the finish is a little musty, metallic and dry.

I actually liked this one more than the Triple Reserve. According to Jsprague these are taste very much like their Belgian inspirations.
