Beer Drinking In Tucson, Arizona

Shortcuts:

Tucson Nightlife

Drinking Laws

The beer situation in Tucson used to be pretty sad and good beer was not easily available. Since the time of this original writing, Brew & Vine has apparently gone out of business, but Tucson seems to be a city that is beginning to embrace the craft brew revolution, and we are seeing more bottleshops and beer bars being added.

Tucson Beer Festivals:
Great Tucson Beer Festival - This 1 day annual event is located at Hi Corbett Field in September. Over 60 breweries from Arizona and the Southwest region attend this event.

Tucson Beer Bars:

The night life in Tucson is less than spectacular. Keep in mind that Arizona consists of many retirees and it isn't a huge city. If you want a decent selection of popular bars head down to the 4th Avenue near the university area for the best results.

Bottle Shops:

Many of Arizona's good beer stores only offer a small variety of singles and a larger number of 6-pack options. Unfortunately, they won't let you take a single out of a 6-pack which can put a damper on your beer sampling abilities.

Aj's Find Foods - Map
2805 E Skyline Dr.
Tucson, AZ. 85718

This upscale grocery store has a decent selection of imports and microbrews (including local varieties).

Same as above.

Plaza Liquors - Map

Total Wine & More - Map
4370 North Oracle Rd
Tucson, AZ 85705
520-887-0174
Claims to have 2,500 beers.

Trader Joes - Normally, I wouldn't list a chain supermarket in this section, but in Tuscon, this is one of the better options for finding American craft beers. There are 4 locations in Tucson.

If you are looking for local beers, they are somewhat difficult to find compared to some other places. You will find them at the establishments listed above, at some bars, or at the breweries themselves.

Brewers and Brewpubs:

Tucson, Az. 85741
520-797-2652
Located at the Foothills Mall of all places, this brewery offers a bar, restaurant, and outdoor seating. Usually, there are about 8 of their beers on tap.
