Now I know why there are so many breweries in OR, but if this proposed tax is passed, where will they all go?

Those idiot lawmakers are addicted to taxes and need to go to Taxaholic Anonymous immediately! They've been trying this same tactic in Maine supposedly to help those poor drunks.BULLSHIT! Its all a scam to extort more of your hard earned cash to fill the corrupt pockets of the politicians. They don't give a damn about helping anybody but themselves-to your money!

Hey, you're preaching-to-the-choir when you say all that to a Californian. Ahhhnold is signing a giant tax-rape of the Californian taxpayers on Friday. Sales tax in Los Angeles county will go up to almost 10% over this year. The car registration tax is doubling. And they say no new gas tax, but that'll come later after July 1st. It's a way to pull in thousands more per family in taxes each year; all to feed the teachers union, prison guards union, state workers, fund pork-filled state assembly projects, etc. It's all very discouraging.

In an ideal world, I would support this type of tax. Avoidable taxes such as this are the kind that our forefathers envisioned. They did not ever believe in income taxes. So, if we didn't have income taxes, I would be less upset about this, but given the fact that the average American is already paying nearly 50% of their income in various taxes, I say "Fuck this tax". $4 for a pint of beer is already plenty. The brewers here are very against this tax as many of them will probably close down. Nice job politicians. Like the recession isn't bad enough, you have to kill even more jobs because you can't manage your finances correctly. Sheesh...

Taxes suck. Thanks to the schmuck in office over here, he's trying to push through a 19 cent per gallon tax hike! WTF! We already have the nations highest state tax on gas. If it passes, we'll be paying over 60 cents per gallon in taxes. 60 fucking cents per gallon! And this asshole keeps buying new shit for everyone, the SP get perk after perk, while 70% of them make 6 figures for running speedtraps and bullshiting overtime...but hey, just like athletes, politicians need to support their lifestyle..even if we the lower man is the source of such support. I've said this before...the day I win the mega millions, is the day I get the F outta here! I'll come back to visit, but I know there are way better places to live....

Okay, rant over. I need a fucking beer! Drink Beer Bottle

It isn't the tax that bothers me, but the implementation of the tax. They are going to tax the brewers directly in Oregon before distribution...that means that the tax is paid before it is purchased by the consumer, driving the cost of the beer up before it is sold.

This could take some up and comers in Oregon and drive them out of business before they have a chance to get their beers out to the public for consumption. It also means that an Oregon beer will cost more in Washington, California, and any other state.

Smaller breweries will either fold or move to Washington to survive. And that is sad.

If you've had enough of being overtaxed, join the national tax day protests. For more info go to- http://taxdayteaparty.com/
My state just went up on the tobacco tax. Now, a pack of cigarettes cost $7.00 a pack.Last I heard they were working on higher alcohol taxes, too. The politicians are traitors to the people they're supposed to represent. We need to let our voices be heard, even if it falls on deaf ears.

From my understanding of history, our forefathers envisioned avoidable taxes and duties on things like alcohol, cigarettes, (in modern times, gasoline) to be OK. I am fine with those types of taxes too as long as that is all we have. In these times, it is just a sneaky way of milking more money out of an already overtaxed populace. The politicians know that if they raise income taxes, all but the most socialist will pitch a shit fit.

And with tomorrow being tax day, I will sign off with:

FUCK TAXES!!!!
