Carlsberg A/S ads say it's "probably the best beer in the world." At $400 a bottle, it's now the most expensive.
more stories like thisThe brewer, Scandinavia's biggest, introduced a beer yesterday that costs $396.47. The Vintage No. 1 brew will be sold at three Copenhagen restaurants, including Noma, a holder of two Michelin stars and the world's 15th-best restaurant in 2007, according to S.Pellegrino.

Rick already brought this up in another thread, but it was a good news item so I started another one in the news forum... _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |

I just need to add these restaurants that are supposedly the best in the world, are clearly reserved for only those who can actually afford to eat there. That wouldn't be me, I'm fine with local favorites here, which I would wager make a better tasting dish; maybe not as pretty, but I'm going to eat the food, and then shit it out. I don't care how pretty it looks on my plate..... _________________ .

My wife and I ate at Daniel Bloud's restaurant in Las Vegas, which is in the Wynn casino. It is a one michelin star restaurant, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. There is a difference in the food, but even a 2 michelin star restaurant will run two people a minimum of 400 bones for just meals and a drink...let alone a nice bottle of beer or wine.
It is more expensive, but there IS a reason. But that is why I rarely dine at a place like that. _________________ kidvelvet

I don't like tire companies rating restaurants...
But seriously, I will pay whatever amount for food if it is REALLY good. I have had some incredibly expensive and incredibly cheap meals that were about at the same level of quality.
It doesn't occur so much in Portland, but in more cosmopolitan cities, at nice restauarants you are paying for their name, their prestige, and because it is a place where all of the dipshits that care about that stuff go to eat. The only reason I would visit a place like that would be to light it on fire... _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |
