As promised, we are starting a giveaway today that will run through the end of this month. We have 5 copies of the book "The Pint Man" by Steve Rushin to give away. I haven't had a chance to read the book yet, but I did skim through it and it appears to be a very entertaining novel. More information about this book can be found in our Books section.

Criteria to win a copy:

  • Whoever submits the most beer reviews during the month of March. Beerlover420 is going to be tough to beat.

  • Most recipes (not batches) added to the homebrewing software during the month of March. If you need ingredients added, PM me or post in the Site Support and Suggestions forum.

  • Submit a city guide or a cooking with beer recipe and you instantly win while supplies last. There are only 3 books to give away for this as 2 are reserved for the items above. I will post the status as to how many are left in this thread.

  • Rules:

  • The contest ends on March 31st at 11:59pm Pacific Standard time.

  • Beerwench and I cannot win.

  • Any city guides or recipes submitted must not violate any copyright laws.

  • An individual user can only win once.

  • If there are any leftover books at the end of the giveaway, we will pick the remaining winners based on other contributions they have made to the site.

  • Any beer reviews you submit must be legitimate and informed. We do not want people blowing through our database giving every Bud/Miller/Coors product a 5 star rating. If you don't know anything about good beer, learn first and get in on the next giveaway.

  • We reserve the sole right to disqualify any participant for any reason we see fit.

  • Any questions? Just ask! Beer

Actually,I might not be that hard to beat since it is getting harder to find something new and affordable.

I am trying to add and edit some of my recipes and the program won't let me add the same hop twice, ie I added Cascade at 60min and 30 min but it would accept the 30 min addition.

Ah Sonofabitch! That software is crap, I have decided. Going to have to try again to get someone to revamp it. So hard to find a PHP homebrewer.

In the meantime, Add it to the notes section and mention that the software wouldn't let you add the hops twice. After I get it fixed, I'll go back and add them in.

    Thanks Joker!

The giveaway has come to an end! We did not have any city guides, beer recipes, or cooking with beer recipes submitted, so I have decided to reward the top 5 reviewers. Here is the final count:

    Beerlover420: 22
    Joker: 9
    Studabaker: 9
    DarthMalt: 7
    Sickle8: 4

    arwalters: 3
    jrs110588: 1
    burgermeister8: 1

Those of you in bold have won a BeerTutor snack pack. In addition to the book, I will be hand selecting a beer I believe you should try in the shipment. Hopefully, I will select something you like Beer If there is something specific from the Northwest that you would like that you can't get where you are, I would be happy to take requests (within a reasonable cost).

For those keeping score, I finished with 22 reviews, but that was a heavier than normal month for me. So Kudos to Beerlover420 for being the review king! (I warned you he would be hard to beat). Smile

To claim your prize, I need you to PM me your address (I have yours beerlover). Expect it to take a couple of weeks tops to get this out to you.

Thanks for playing and I hope we get more opportunities like this in the future.

That was fun. I had intended to go after the recipes as my method to win a prize but realized I had packed my brewing notes away while doing the addition on the house.

Instead of shipping mine I can probably just meet you someplace.

How is your addition going? I am guessing that you are getting pretty close?

Sure, I would be happy to meet up somewhere. Are you still working in Southeast?

Soccer season for the boys and other time stealing events have been taking place. Still need to get inspections done on electrical and duct work then rough framing. After that we can get on to insulation and sheetrock and it will actually look like we are getting something done.

We built some beams for the family room a couple weekends ago and they came out better then I could have ever imagined. I also did a test fit on my keezer and found out I can have up to 5 beers on tap. Headbang

edit: oops and yes I still work at approx 20th and Burnside on the East side. Loving having East Burn a couple blocks away with their $2 pint Tuesdays. Beer

How do you keep mold from developing during these rainy months?

And what is a keezer? I could Google it, but I am feeling lazy and I think I'll like your answer better than Wikepedia's.

We have been weather tight for a long time now, so no mold issues.

A keezer is just like a kegerator only you use a freezer instead. You put an external temp controller on it so you can keep the temp correct for beer and it will hold a lot more beer then a fridge.

Interesting.. So you run a freezer at a less than freezing temp? And 5 beers on tap sounds awesome.

The average I have heard is around 40 degrees. You can either hard wire a temp controller in or it can be as simple as plugging the freezer into the temp controller and the temp controller into the wall and placing the thermometer from the temp controller into the freezer. Power only goes to the freezer when the temp contoller allows it to.
