So I have a Black Butte XXI and Abyss sitting and waiting for their drink on date to arrive and some days I don't think they are going to make it.

The XXI has a best after date of April 14th and I believe the Abyss is November.

I have not had either of them. I have just started buying the $12 beers as a treat for myself.

I have tried the Rogue Double Dead Guy and thought it was very good and the XS Imperial Porter also very tasty.

Those dates are way too far away.. Drink them now! They shouldn't sell them until they are ripe.. Beer

I say hold off. Just imagine how much better, deeper, fuller, and overall more enjoyable they will be when properly aged. I usually buy at least 2 of any real good beer..1 to drink, and 1 to age, and age, and age...

I really wish I had more money available for this type of spending, it would be great to be able to cellar a collection of beers.

I try to only pick up things that I see as limited, and also something I would enjoy. If I saw a special RIS on the shelf, I would leave it because I don't really like stouts, let alone an RIS... That way, I can get a few extra goodies without going broke..

Then again, I can't seem to hold onto the good stuff for that long. The longest I have held anything is a few years, and those are my first Utopias and Westvleteren 12 and 8...
