I've been experimenting with amateur bartending.I created what I think is a unique drink which I call a "Guns 'N' Roses",but my other mixes were not good.I made my first Martini today and it was decent.Stay tuned, more adventures in mixology to come.

A friend of mine called me years ago.. Told me about some virtual bartender website. This was when the term, "website" was a relatively new concept. We decided to submit a drink. We made the most ridiculous 6oz drink, ever. I may still have the original note paper on it with what we did use...

One thing we'll never forget. It was to be called, The Scummy Nutsack. I'm not sure why, but that's what it went down as.. Beer

A virtual bartender site? That sounds cool! I am enjoying a "Jolly Roger" right now which is rum, drambuie, and a bit of lime juice.Yummy!
My G 'n'R is mostly light rum with several splashes of some rose mint liquor that I found at my parent's camp in Canada. As I was drinking it and trying to think of a name,I thought of "Rum & Roses",then G 'n'R started playing on the radio which led to "Guns & Roses".

There's a bunch of sites like that now. It all depends on who coded them and if the database of drinks is correct. A lot of them don't have every ingredient you may want to search with, and some have so many user submissions it's impossible to find a good drink..

I keep it simple with Scotch or Whiskey, chilled but no rocks, ever. Drink From Flask

I haven't found anything yet that beats a Rusty Nail which is scotch & Drambuie.I add a bit of club soda to make a delicious and simple to make drink.Any other drinks I've made, while they might be tasty, take too much effort once I've had the initial one.I guess that's why we are willing to pay bartenders to mix our drinks. I got great reviews at a Christmas party for a very basic drink -- Dewar's, a squeezed slice of both lemon and lime, and then topped with Sierra Mist.

-I bet that is pretty good.A lot of drinks use soda in them and the variety of flavors is multitude.Fresh fruit goes a long way, too. Also, ice made from spring water. There are even some drinks that use beer in them! Perhaps there IS a use for all those macro-crap beers after all! Laugh

BTW,the liqueur I used in the G N' R was something called Meagher's Menthe Rose Liqueur with an ABV of 23%.It had a schnapps flavor to it.I think I invented another drink.I am calling it a Slippery Ski Slope.I mix 2oz of Scotch,1.5 oz of Peppermint Schnapps, and 1.5 oz of club soda.I think it's pretty good.

During my mixology experiments, I ended up with some Triple Sec and Butterscotch Schnapps that I didn't know what to do with. I found this helpful website called www.webtender.com where I found a drink called Carmel Candy Apple. This drink called for Butterscotch Schnapps, Triple Sec, and Apple Schnapps. I hastily went to the liquor store and inadvertently bought some Red Apple Schnapps instead of the recommended Sour Apple. Now, I have this pink drink which is alright, but very sweet. I have to go back to the liquor store and buy some more rum to perhaps mix with this pink drink and lower the sweet factor. I'll let you all know how that turns out.
