Sloshed brought up the idea in a recent review when he asked whether the alum bottles are bottles or cans. I thought it would make a good poll. I wonder if the alum bottles are lined differently inside or is it just about shape? I find the experience of drinking from an alum bottle better than a regular can, but not as good as a glass bottle. Also, there are those plastic bottles that look like the glass versions. I think Coors Light and Bud sells them. I think I prefer drinking from the plastic bottles over regular cans. I am talking here about drinking beer directly from the container. Any beer poured into the right vessel improves the taste experience in general for me.

There is probably an actual name for them, but I am too lazy to look it up right now. It has a bottle cap, but to me a bottle is made of glass.

It does make it more confusing calling a bottle anything in a bottle shape rather than a product made from glass. Example:

Patron: "I'll have a bottle of beer, please."
Barmaid: "Will that be glass, plastic, aluminum, styrofoam, clay, wood, etc.?"
Confused

Although the poll results favor calling aluminum bottles, "bottles," I still cannot bring myself to accept calling something made of metal a bottle. To me, a can shaped like a bottle is still a can.
