I am guessing that Guinness came out with this for the beer drinkers who could not follow the directions on the original bottles & cans of draught which directed the buyer to tip the product rapidly upside down when they poured it into a glass. The "widget" thinghie inside the bottles & cans never seemed to catch the favor of most consumers, especially those who tried to drink it straight from the bottle/can. I prefer the widget version if I have a glass handy, otherwise, I would buy the Foreign Extra Stout if I was drinking it straight from the bottle. I give this new version only a 3 star rating. _________________ Beer Is Bread |

Not a Guiness fan...Although the Black Lager is pretty good. But I don't think I'd get a full 6er of it. _________________ .

I thought the widget was a unique innovation in the bottle/can drinking experience, but drinking it straight from the container was a horrible surprise for the average drinker. The bottle version worked way better than the can, but it still had to be poured upside down quickly into a pint glass for it to work. I hope it will still be offered on a limited basis for the consumers who appreciate this fascinating piece of beer history. For those who collect beer memorabilia, get the widget while you can.
