Well, my chowder-monkey friends.. The game approaches and will be over in about 12 hours from now.. Some of us will be very sad tonight. I hope its not me, but I am ready..
I am also ready to gloat and display a lot of bad sportsmanship if Denver wins... Mostly kidding...
If Denver loses, I am going to the bottleshop and getting the strongest beers I can find and drinking myself retarded while I cry in the empty bottles. If Denver wins, I am going to the bottleshop and getting the strongest beers I can find and drinking myself retarded while I cry in the empty bottles. Either way, I both lose and win.. _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts.

Good luck to both teams, tonight...
May the best team (also known as The 3 Time Superbowl Campion New Englad Patriots) win tonight.
I'm looking forward to seeing the smack talk that's gonna appear on here after the game!

It's easy to look good when the offense starts three drives inside their own ten. _________________ Happiness is like peeing yourself, everyone can see it but only you can feel its warmth! |

Well, that game went exactly like I thought it would. I knew turnovers would be a factor since Denver was 2nd in the league in turnover ratio. Denver played well and the Patriots definitely didn't bring their A game.
Like they said at the beginning of the game, Denver is the best team that has been least talked about this season. Hopefully they will get some deserved credit now... _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |

Denver's defense was outstanding. 1 or 2 turnovers and you can attribute it to possibly shooting yourself in the foot. 5? That is just flat out defensive tenacity. Special teams also was a big factor.
As great as Denver's defense was, I wasn't really sold on their offense. Denver didn't have any long drives, and all of their scores came on short field from the defense.
When they play either Indy or Pitt, I wonder if the defense doesn't do what it did tonight, can their offense carry them? Jake looked very efficient, much like Dilfer for the Ravens. He didn't make mistakes, and that was the key for them to win.
Should be a good game either way. _________________ kidvelvet

I still stand by my previous statement. Take the following box scores as an example:
QB #1: 13/20, 226 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
QB #2: 15/26, 197 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Obviously QB #2 is Jake the Fake from last night as he posted a whopping 78.5 QB rating. QB #1 is Charlie Frye (who is going to be mediocre at best also) in his first NFL start against the Jags. Plummer is nothing more than a run of the mill, easily replaceable quarterback. How he's getting a trip to Hawaii mystifies me.
KV makes a good point about how the Ravens won a Superbowl with a average QB, however they also had arguably the best defense in the history of football. From what I saw last night, Denver's defense consists of Al Wilson, Champ Bailey and a bunch of stiffs from the Browns (who registered four tackles collectively).
The Pats would have won that game if they had bothered to take their heads out of their asses before suiting up.
I'm still bitter from the John Elway era if you couldn't tell. _________________ Happiness is like peeing yourself, everyone can see it but only you can feel its warmth! |

I guess Denver is going to have to beat Indy before Drew will give them any credit.
Plummer is better than average. Look at his stats for the season. Like I already said, his quarterback rating was right behind Brady (#7 in the NFL). That is not mediocre!!! And Denver isn't the type of team this year that requires 1 star to have a great game to win. They truly play team football just like the Pats did when they won 2 superbowls.
It isn't always pretty, but they find ways to win. I don't care what anyone says, Denver is a better team than NE right now. All the signs were there: season record, stats, strength of schedule, beat NE once already, etc., etc...

NE's defense was tough though.. Denver had to try to pass to open up the running game, which is the opposite of what they usually try to do and certainly not their strength. _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |

Ok, I think BU is still passed out somewhere, so I'll be the first from this side......yeah, that sucked wicked bad. I could on about the bad calls, and the no calls that changed the game momentum towards Denver, but regardless, we sucked it up last night. I can be humble too. The Pats just didn't seem to have it in them for whatever reason. I guess winning three consecutive Superbowls is impossible. J, I respect your respect for Jake Plummer, but he is going to be humiliated by the Colts defense. The Broncos don't even stand a chance, but then again, no one does because this year now belongs to Indy, who will win the Title, finally for Peyton. Not even the rainy Seacocks, especially without Alexander at 100%. Concussions can last a while before the effects are no longer felt. Did you see the look of Duh in his eyes on the bench? I am so hungover right now, I need more booze....we finished The Macallan Scotch, and the SoCo 100P......and we had a fight club at around midnight.....shit my back hurts...I traded knees to the back with knees to the ribcage with BU......I need some Motrin, and beer. And I need to convince someone to go the Lynyrd Skynyrd show tonight, and miss the premiere of 24......I got a long day in front of me......let the mayhem begin! Good luck to the rest of whatever teams y'all are rooting for. _________________ .

Sorry but I don't see Indy making it to the superbowl. Again, you gotta look at the strength of a team's schedule and Indy is not battle tested. They had one of the most ridiculously easy schedules I have ever seen. Any decent team could put together a record like that with that schedule.
You and BU had a fight club last night? Good lord man _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |

Oh yeah, we fought last night, alright... I have some bruises on my back, arms, neck, stomache and even a small one in my eye. But it's all good! I was still ready and looking for more when Ricka and the other guy we were fighting decided it was time to sit out. Drunken fights like that are always a good time!
We should have fight clubs like that more often!!! _________________ "Let's go drink until we can't feel feelings anymore." |

Indy is not going to be the factor.
Denver will get to play at home against Pitt, who simply manhandled the Colts. Their defense essentially punched them in the mouth. Had it not been for a bad call for the interception, it wouldn't have been as exciting at the end.
Hmmm...we could have a superbowl with two wildcard teams...Pitt and Carolina...neither of which played at home.
However, I see a Denver/Seattle matchup in the future. J, I think we may have to place a nice little beer bet on that one if it happens. _________________ kidvelvet

I think Denver's defense is rock solid at this point, and while they aren't the Ravens of a few years back, you could put them on the same scale as Tampa Bay's super bowl team. NE had a second chance to figure out this defense, and they couldn't do it. If Belichek (sp) can't figure out this defense after two games, then they must be doing something right.
NE has a decent defense, but about average this year for a playoff team. If Denver had that much trouble moving the ball against the NE defense, I don't know what they are going to do with Pitt. I know that they are going to have to rely on their defense to give them short fields, or they may not score very many points.
I am still in shock with the Indy game...but, Pitt kept it lower scoring, and that to me was the key (as I pointed out in another post.) I wonder how many teams are going to rest players in the years to come when they have the playoffs locked up...Indy obviously was out of sync. Perhaps not playing a meaningful game in over a month can do that. _________________ kidvelvet
