last year I travelled through Europe for 9 weeks. I discovered so many great types of beer.

The main places I visited (as far as beer goes) were the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam, which is actually not the working brewery now, and it's known as the Heineken experience. The other was the Carlsberg Brewery in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Throughout the Heineken Experience, I enjoyed 3 complimentary beers, and at the Carlsberg Brewery I had 2, which included one of their regular brews, and one of their 'special brews'. The special brew that I tried had a hint of apple in it, and I was sceptical at first, but it was actually quite delicious. Beer

I have spent a lot of time in Amsterdam.. I have walked and driven by the Heineken museum many times, but never gone in. Mainly because I hate Heineken... There are some awesome beer bars in the city that specialize in Dutch and Belgian beers. If you ever go back, check out the city guide posted on this site and try to get to some of those places for a good experience of what the area has to offer... They have a lot more to offer than just Amstel and Heineken... My personal favorite has to be Gollem, if you can get in to this tiny bar. They have hundreds of beers and the bartenders really know their shit.. The best part is right across the alley from the bar is a very good bottle shop and one of the only places you can get the elusive Westvleteren beers..

Let me know when you`re going show you some bars in my hometown that are "free bars",no commitment with any brewery and therefore they have every month new beers from kegs and on bottle. In the Hague you also have a pub brews his own beers,i don`t know for sure but i thought it is the only one in the country. To avoid the regular Heineken when in Holland always look for a "beercafe" that is a member from "het biergilde" than you have the guarantee that they have at least 5 draft beers and 25 bottled ones.

De Beiaard and Brouwerij 'T IJ both have brew pubs in Amsterdam.. What is the name of the one in your city? I don't think we have their beers listed in our database..
