Take a look at its extraordinary stock run. Since the beginning of October, shares have soared 40% to close at $101.31 Wednesday. The stock price has never been this high.
Why is the maker of Sam Adams beer so hot?

Why? Because it's really good beer, of course!
Plus, people know it's a real craft brewery, even though it's probably the biggest, and soem claim it's just another big brewer. It's not owned by any of the big 3, or their parent companies.
I'm ashamed that Goose Island sold out. I don't care how much money they got out of it. If the product wasn't selling, make a better beer. If it was selling, why become a sellout. I know people who won't buy anything related to the big 3. Some people firmly believe smaller batched make better beer.
Obviously, BBC doesn't make small batches of Sam Adams, but it's still a high quality brew that sticks to it's traditions and won't let the big 3 touch the... _________________ .

I think Sam Adams has done a great job of expanding it's brews into more interesting styles and their regular beers are usually decent examples while still having broad appeal for the masses. Also, they've managed to keep their beers at a reasonable price. Cheers to Sam Adams!

Damn.. I missed your responses earlier.. My only problem with Sam Adams beer is that they make too many. We have over 70 beers listed for them which is far more than 99% of the brewers out there. Its too damn many, and as soon as you find one you really like, it is gone and replaced with new experiments. I'm all for experiments, but it would be nice if they could just take it down a notch and focus on improving some of their core brews that are good, but could be better. Other than that, the are an important example of being very successful while actually making good beer, and I am sure that at least to some degree, they are an inspiration to many other brewers out there. _________________ I drink to forget my blackouts. |

Right on the nail J. SA needs to find a stable of beers to carry, and then occassionally release something special. They took away my damn White Ale, only to replace it with Noble Pils. It was advertised to be the next Spring seasonal, and I was pissed. Apparently, others were as well, because it is gone, after just one year. Now they are releasing 2 new brews in January, Sweetwater IPA and Alpine something, can't remember. That also gets me.. You don't release a Spring seasonal ale in January.
I'll always have a place for SA just because of where I grew up. but they are no longer a craft brewer IMO. _________________ .
