Wine and distilled beverages continue to eat away at the beer market in the U.S. according to a recent article. Beer is still the most popular alcoholic beverage in the country, but has been losing ground since the late '90s as distillers have targeted younger drinkers. Some say that beer has an image problem and has lost its "sexiness".

It would be interesting to see if this phenomenon also touches the micro breweries.

I would tend to think that people are drinking less but drinking better.

The good part about this is that the macros might start doing better products!

That is wishful thinking. Drink Beer Bottle Drink Beer Bottle

I am guessing that while wine and booze are on the rise, it may have more to do with the "ladies drinks" such as Smirnoff Ice and the like. I know that if my wife and I go out to play poker, I usually get a 6 of Mike's Hard because she will drink it and I don't want to drink a full six while playing cards (I end up chasing the river WAY to often...cracking oars abound!)

I Guess I don't have much choice...especially when I am being peer pressured by a squirrel with a rocket launcher.

Aren't you the one who needs to buy your beer by case rather than individually?
