I have added 57 new beers to the database. Most are located in Belgium and Netherlands as these are the beers readily available here in Amsterdam. Here is the complete list:
20 beers by Bear Creek Brewing Company - USA
14 beers by Gulpener - Netherlands
6 beers by De Koningshoeven (La Trappe) - Netherlands
7 beers by Hertog Jan - Netherlands
2 beers by Dommelsch - Netherlands
5 beers by Grimbergen - Belgium
3 beers by Westmalle - Belgium |

No way man.. But I have tasted 1 or 2 beers from each of them (except Bear Creek Brewing).
I have been trying to taste about 2 or 3 new beers per day.. I'm on a budget and belgian ales are about $1.50+ apiece.. So I sample a couple per day and the rest of the time I am drinking Amstel or something cheap.. |

In that case, I will post in the Hamsterdam thread when I do a new review.. I wish this site had the ability to list new reviews.. Something that I'll have to have added in the future... |

Good idea!
I think the beer database is great. It needs a little tweaking but it definitely needs to be brought more attention. I've been inserting reviews and I think that the users should be rewarded for their contribution in the db.
At least it would five you a hand in filling it! _________________ Prime Minister: Beer Snob |

I think the beer database has turned out pretty good too and the integration with the forums was a pretty neat trick.. The things I have left to do on the database mostly have to do with providing better statistics and reports so that people can view the highest rated beers, beers by country, beers by brewer, etc..
Actually, right before I read your message, I was working on the metatags and keywords to improve search engine rankings. A couple of weeks ago I submitted the site to several search engines and it will probably be a while before they get listed... Next, we will start working on getting other sites to link to this one and hopefully with all those efforts, the traffic will start to grow.
It has been really nice having a bunch of you beer lovers and friends help me get this site started and that is a big part of the reason it turned out so well.. |

| One thing I thought of that would be cool to have would be a calendar of beer festivals, tastings, etc. I've always wanted to go to something like that but I never know where/when they are until it's too late. |

| If you look at the top menu, there is a broken link for Events... I wanted to add this feature too, but I am having a hard time finding the right calendar software written in PHP and I am still not sure if I will have the time to maintain the events.. It would be really nice if users could submit to the calendar.. definitely have not seen any software that will do that... |

I think it would be really cool to have user statistics as well.
For examples,
Which user posted the most beers.
Which user rated the most beers.
Which user reviewed the most beers.
And while we are at it:
By style
By brewery
By country?
The fun thing with databases is how easy you can gather statistics! _________________ Prime Minister: Beer Snob |

| How hard would it be to add a link for "Recently reviewed beers"? |

That is what I was saying I wanted to do earlier in this post.. It would require a programmer, but I don't think it would be a very complicated thing. |

The ideal thing would be to find a programmer from Portland who would accept to be paid with beer...
Now, if I could only learn php... _________________ Prime Minister: Beer Snob |
