| Really there is nothing that can beat fish and chips and a few pints/cans or beer to sit around with a few mates and laff the night away as drunken fools. MMMMhhh as i sit in work i really want a pint of Guinness but that is not possible. |

When I used to live in Scotland, the best place to eat was the local hole-in-the-wall chippie. Can't get good fish here in Ohio. |

I mean they come with there own breading all you have to do is fry them up. I live in Pittsburgh and I really do not care for the food. I mean the progeys(sp?) and the beer... . I miss the west cost... |

Somebody should be having "movers remorse".. | Ya well In portland I slept with a gun next to my bed and lived in the worse part of town(The Valley Vancouver WA). It was really nice when a 4 plex burned to the ground and every one cryed becouse it was the Meth Lab.
Where I live now. I do not have to see my nabors and i can aford to live in any naborhood I want to. Buy almost anything I want(exsept bood beer they just done sell it). And I am in the top 10% most edicated around(and i only have a BS and my wife with her MS is in the top 2%). Also I have never had my mail stolen out of my mail box and my rent check bank acount number used to pay for someones cell phone. I do not have to step over drunks to get in to the super market. And I do not have the stuped 5 brige going up all the time.
Ok so the food and the beer suck. But I am happy that the gun is locked in a safe. And does not have to be ready at a moments notice. |

| ITMAN, I don't know where you lived, but where I live in Portland we can leave our door open all night. The only activity after midnight is the cops driving by to make sure everything is OK. I am serious. Last night I had a 20 minute conversation with a cop who pulled over a DUII high school girl in front if my house. I was totally loaded, but in my pajamas, so I was clean. He was cool, and then cuffed the girl, so that was cool... |

Well Vancouver is a shithole for sure and if I lived there, I would want to get out too.. But most of Portland is a great place to live.. People here are very laid back and you can be just as weird as you want to be and nobody cares.. Live and let live as they say... |

| When we visited London we pretty much had fish and chips for almost every meal as that's all they have there. It was great with beer, but I think that beer pretty much goes well with everything. The cool thing about England is that you can have a beer in pubs that are hundreds of years old, and you'll meet the coolest people in pubs. The beer is a bit different, but that's another story... |

McMenamins has some pretty good fish and chips and some great beer. Occasionally the fish is a little to greasy but the beer is always good. Maybe us Oregon folk should meet up at one someday maybe we can even catch them brewing if we call ahead and see if it is ok to check it out. _________________ Let the obsession begin. |

I go to McMenamins every once in a while for lunch during work. The beer is light enough so that I don't have to worry about going back to work with a buzz on. Otherwise, I would say that they are about an average to below average for microbrews around here.
Speaking of places in Portland, the old Henry's Brewery in the Pearl District is now a full fledged bar. What makes this place really cool is that the bar has this cooling strip on it. So, you can order a cold beer and place it on this strip on the bar and it keeps it cold...pretty cool...plus they had quite a few beers on tap.
Hmmm...I am sensing another beer tasting soon.
PS: All there is to eat in Britain is fish and chips...there is a reason that there are Mexican, Italian, and Thai restaurants, but there are no English and Sweedish restaurants. _________________ kidvelvet
