Ingredients: (Portions for a 5 gallon batch)
Grain 1 lbs.  Black Patent Malt (UK)  
Grain 1 lbs.  Cara-Pils/CaraFoam/Dextrine (USA)  
Grain 3 lbs.  DME (Amber)  
Grain 3.3 lbs.  DME (Dark)  
Grain 0.5 lbs.  Chocolate Malt (USA)  
Hops 1 oz.  Tettnanger   (Pellets% AA) Boil time 15 min.
Hops 1.5 oz.  Northern Brewer   (Pellets% AA) Boil time 60 min.
Miscellaneous Ingredient 2 sticks  Licorice  
Yeast 6 oz.  White Labs English Ale (WLP002)  Yeast   (Ideal ferm. temp: 65-68°F)
Directions:
Put grains in bag and begin heating water.
@ 120° rest for 15 min. then raise to
155° and rest for 30 min. Remove grains, mix extracts and
bring to boil.
Place 2 in. Licorice stick in plastic bag and crush with hammar. Put in wort during last 30 min. Stir often to help disolve
Primary Fermentor:   5 days  Secondary  2 weeks  In Bottles:   2 weeks
